Developer Treyarch announces the beginning of a Double XP weekend event for its shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 , which starts today for players everywhere.
Starting today at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST, Treyarch is rewarding Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 ‘s multiplayer and zombies players with twice the amount of normal experience points by beginning a Double XP event that’s set to last throughout the weekend. The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 developer made the announcement via its Twitter account, while also confirming that fans should expect the additional XP to end on Monday, February 1, at the exact same time mentioned above.
The Double XP event is starting just a few days before the release dateof the first-person shooter’s first expansion pack known as Awakening, which will arrive on PlayStation platforms before any others due to Activision’s and Sony’s timed-exclusive DLC deal. As previously reported, February 2’s add-ons will include four new multiplayer maps (Skyjacked, Rise, Splash, and Gauntlet), as well as a fresh scenario for the game’s popular Zombies mode called Der Eisendrache.
As is to be expected, Treyarch’s tweet below urges fans to clear their schedules to take part in the Double XP event. In fact, the studio proclaims the need for players to make sure and order a Replacer, as seen in a recent Awakening DLC trailer. Of course, should folks take that route, they’ll need to already have little to no regard for their friends, family, or responsibilities.
Get your Replacer lined up...you're going to need it. Tomorrow at 10am/PST we'll activate 2XP for MP/Z (runs through Monday 10am/PST).
— Treyarch Studios (@Treyarch) January 28, 2016Treyarch’s decision to enact double the amount of XP in Black Ops 3 this weekend is not only a great way for the developer to get fans to engage with the base game’s multiplayer and zombies materials, but it’s also a solid promotional tool to incentivize players to buy the Awakening DLC upon its release. Undoubtedly, there will be plenty of people who take part in the event — especially considering the FPS was 2015’s best-selling game— so it serves as a proficient prompt to remind fans of the forthcoming expansion pack.
At any rate, the Awakening DLC for Black Ops 3 is sure to give those who enjoy the game’s multiplayer and zombies mode an enjoyable experience. And with it only being the first of four expansions planned for the game thus far, die-hard fans of the Call of Duty franchise will surely be investing quite a lot of playing time in the near future.
