Activision revives one of its previous ad campaigns for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 , by bringing back “The Replacer” in a new trailer for the shooter’s Awakening DLC.

With Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 ‘s release datefor its Awakening DLC arriving in less than a week, in order to excite its fans, Activision has released a new live-action trailer with renowned Hollywood character actor Peter Stormare returning as “The Replacer”. Die-hard players of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 ought to recognize the ad campaign, and of course, should gamers need the characters’ services, he’ll step in to cover for any real-life situation that needs attention, so that folks can spend more time playing the futuristic shooter.

For the uninitiated, Black Ops 2 introduced The Replacer in a trailerfor its DLC package known as Revolution a few years ago, and the character became somewhat of a fan-favorite, particularly due to his brash antics and uncaring attitude. For instance, the most recent iteration of The Replacer has him haphazardly filling in for an ambulance driver, flirting with a girlfriend’s mom, and relieving himself on a neighbor’s lawn as he takes over someone’s dog-walking duties.

As some may be aware, the Call of Duty franchise is far from the first instance of Peter Stormare attaching himself to a gaming series, be it through promotional materials, or with him actually showing up as a character in a release. As it happens, the actor played Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 ‘s Soviet Union scientist Dr. Gregor Zelinsky, he provided the voice of Jorunn the Skald-King in The Elder Scrolls Online , and most recently, he showed up as Dr. Alan Hill in the cult horror hit Until Dawn . Nevertheless, fans can check out his reprisal role of The Replacer for Black Ops 3 in the trailer below.

Not only does the video above show The Replacer running rampant, but it also teases the materials of Black Ops 3 ‘s Awakening DLCwith some colorful and fast-paced gameplay footage. As previously reported, fans who pick up the expansion will be getting four new multiplayer maps known as Skyjacked, Rise, Splash and Gauntlet, as well as a brand new Zombies map called Der Eisendrache.

Due to the fact that Activision has been publicizing Black Ops 3 ‘s Awakening DLC almost non-stop, it’s obvious that the game’s advertising budget it astronomical, especially considering the solid production value of the trailer with Stormare. Bearing that in mind, the publisher and developer Treyarch are clearly banking on the expansion being a financial success. Of course, should it not perform as well as the companies hope, there are three more add-on packages planned for the game this year to help pick up the slack.

Regardless, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 being a veritable blockbuster — it was 2015’s best-selling game, after all — the chance of the Awakening DLC flopping is slim to none. However, Activision and Treyarch raking in buku bucks from the release doesn’t necessarily mean that the franchise’s formula hasn’t become stale. Some would even argue that Black Ops 3 ‘s problems made it a disappointment, showing that the series may be out of fresh ideas.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is out now and is available for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
