Sean Murray, Hello Games founder and developer of No Man’s Sky , takes to Twitter to deny the rumors that the game is set to have a surprise release tomorrow.
No Man’s Sky may be the most anticipated indie game ever. This is no surprise, as it is a massive space exploration game that could take over 5 billion years to fully explore, making it one of the most ambitious gaming projects in history. The sheer scope of the game has seen it garner mainstream attention, with Hello Games founder Sean Murray recently showing the game off during an episode of.
Suffice to say, people are excited for, and can’t wait to play it. This unbridled enthusiasm for the game has resulted in a rumor being spread that the game is to have a surprise release tomorrow, October 27th, but Sean Murray has now confirmed the rumors to be untrue.
Sean Murray denied the rumor after being approached wby a fan on Twitter. Murray’s blunt statement can be found below:

Firstly, tomorrow is when Sony is showcasing their Paris Games Week press conference, after having skipped Gamescom 2015to do so. No Man’s Sky is one of PS4’s biggest console-exclusive gameson the horizon, and a surprise release during the Paris Games Week conference would generate a significant amount of buzz for the PS4.
Tomorrow also happens to be the launch of Microsoft’s major fall Xbox One exclusive, Halo 5: Guardians , so what better way to siphon off some attention than by suddenly dropping No Man’s Sky on the PlayStation Store? Of course, it would make more sense for Sony to announce the release date of No Man’s Sky in advance if they truly wanted to compete with Halo 5 , but even a surprise release of the game could turn gamers’ attention away from Master Chief’s latest adventure.
Furthermore, Sony actually has precedence with surprise game releases during press conferences. At E3 2014, they released a small game called Entwined during the conference, and then later that same year, the Silent Hills teaser P.T. was released on the PS Store without warning. That being said, No Man’s Sky is a bigger project than P.T. and Entwined , with a lot more hype surrounding it, and so if Sony does have a surprise release tomorrow, it will probably be something else entirely.
No Man’s Sky is coming to PC and PS4 at an undetermined point in the future.
