An online listing for Activision and Treyarch’s military first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 lists the game’s price under $35 for PlayStation 4.
For those PlayStation 4 fans who have been hankering to pick up Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 , but have been waiting for a price drop, now is probably the best time to snag the title, for Amazon is running a deal that currently has the futuristic FPS’ physical copies for the PS4 listed at $32.62. On top ofbeing marked down for Sony’s current generation console, the PC and Xbox One ports of the game have also been reduced in price, albeit not as drastically as the PS4 iteration, with PC copies going for $38.95, and Xbox One versions being sold for $39.88.
The Black Ops 3 sale not only extends to the newest platforms, but also to last generation consoles. As a matter of fact, the prices for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are the lower than the game on current-gen, with the former being marked down to $24.28, and the latter being just slightly more expensive at $25.92. Of course, it’s worth noting that the extremely inexpensive listings for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Black Ops 3 are likely due to the titles being on older systems, and having no campaign of which to speak, with only multiplayer to sustain them.
Naturally, as is the case with any online retailer, especially Amazon, prices for products tend to change at rapid rates, so by the time fans head over to the site to purchase a copy of Black Ops 3 , the sale could have expired. Nevertheless, it’s safe to presume that the reduced cost for the title will remain relatively low — that is, under $40 — at least for the remainder of the day.
It’s highly likely that developers have enacted the sale for Black Ops 3 due to the game’s Eclipse DLC releasing soon on April 19, and Activision and Treyarch want fans to scoop up a cheaper copy beforehand to use their savings on the expansion pack. After all, Eclipse is going to be obtainable for $15, and should Call of Duty fans jump on this deal now, the difference in the original cost of the base game when compared to the reduced price will leave those who take advantage of the sale with roughly $20-$25 to spend on the DLC.
If fans do decide to purchase the currently discounted Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and get the Eclipse DLC upon its release, they will receive all that the standard game has to offer, including the expansion pack’s four multiplayer maps of Knockout, Rift, Spire, and Verge (a remake of World at War ‘s Banzai), as well as a new Zombies map called Zetsubou No Shima. However, PC and Xbox One fans will have about a month’s wait before Eclipse will be available for their platforms after its launch due to a DLC exclusivity deal between Activision and Sonyto bring any add-ons to PlayStation first. With any luck, though, such timed-exclusives will eventually go on to be phased out completely.
