Rumor Patrol: Zelda Wii U Will Have Male and Female Link, Voice Acting

Nintendo blogger Emily Rogers claims that the new Legend of Zelda for Wii U will feature a female version of Link, voice acting, and a Nintendo NX port.

Legend of Zelda fans, hold onto your Minish Caps. A Nintendo blogger by the name of Emily Rogershas potentially revealed three major pieces of information regarding the next game in the series, all of which could have major ramifications on the Legend of Zelda franchise as a whole.

First of all, Rogers reaffirms previous rumors that The Legend of Zelda is coming to the NXas well as Wii U. Zelda is one of Nintendo’s most successful franchises, so having the next game in the series come to the NX as a launch title could mean big things for the system. It may also be enough to convince PS4 and Xbox One owners that never bothered with the Wii U to pick up an NX when that system releases.

Secondly, there will apparently be the option to choose between a male or female Linkin the new Legend of Zelda game. When The Legend of Zelda ‘s first footage was revealed a couple of years ago, fans speculated that the Link in the footage was actually a female version of the beloved character. Nintendo later debunked those claims, only to introduce a female version of Link, named Linkle, for Hyrule Warriors . Perhaps Nintendo created that character as a response to fan reaction to the possibility of a female Link, and, moreover, maybe it inspired the Big N to give gamers a gender choice in The Legend of Zelda for the first time in series history.

And finally, Rogers also claims that The Legend of Zelda for Wii Uwill have voice acting. This news may be the most surprising of all, as the Zelda franchise has avoided voice acting since its inception. Having said that, while Rogers says that most of the characters in the game will be supplemented by voice acting, Link is said to remain mute in the new Zelda game.

Of course, we must remind everyone to take this news with a massive grain of salt. The fact of the matter is that we won’t know for sure what the new Zelda will entail until Nintendo is ready to discuss it again. And the way things are going, that might not be until E3 2016in June, unfortunately.

However, while rumors shouldn’t be blindly believed, Emily Rogers does have a bit more credibility than others that spread rumors online. In fact, Rogers is the one that revealed that a Paper Mario game was coming to the Wii Umonths before Nintendo actually announced it. This makes it somewhat easier to believe her current claims about Zelda , but even so, these are huge changes to the franchise that we will have to see more concrete evidence of before we’re willing to fully believe.
