Activision releases the launch trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 , showcasing the game’s campaign and multiplayer, as well as the Shadows of Evil Zombies Mode.
Believe it or not, we’re just a couple of weeks away from 2015’s entry in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops 3 . With fan-favorite developer Treyarch back at the helm, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has the potential to reverse the series’ downward sales trend, and win back some lapsed players in the process.
Even though Black Ops 3 is the most anticipated game of the year, there are those that haven’t been keeping up with the game, and for those people, Activision has released a launch trailer that details exactly what to expect from Black Ops 3 .
Fittingly set to the tune of “Paint It Black” by The Rolling Stones, the Black Ops 3 launch trailer highlights the game’s campaign first, offering a glimpse of Marshawn Lynch’s character, while also reminding consumers that the campaign won’t be available on last-gen consoles.
From there, the trailer showcases various Specialist characters that will be included in the multiplayer, while also making sure to shine a light on the game’s new traversal mechanics. The trailer then concludes with a very brief tease of the new Zombies mode,, before dissolving into a flurry of clips highlighting the various game modes.

The Black Ops 3 launch trailer makes an effort to point out three of the game’s major modes, but it surprisingly doesn’t make any mention of the recently revealed fourth game mode. Just announced a week ago, Black Ops 3 will have a leaderboard-based obstacle course called Free Run, which will task players with utilizing the new parkour skills to earn high scores. Perhaps Free Run wasn’t considered as much of a selling point as the other three modes, but it does sound like it could be an interesting diversion nevertheless.
Although Free Run doesn’t get any air time, Activision smartly teases the campaign for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 , leaving players with a few questions on the way out. It only lasts a few brief seconds near the end of the trailer, but there are hints at some potential supernatural elements, which is something that Call of Duty has mostly stayed away from, with the exception Zombies.
This scene begins with the player character blinded by a strange light, and then shows the female character Sarah Hall standing on a snowy landscape, with a single tree in the distance. A building then begins to materialize, but the scene quickly cuts away before more can be revealed. Either this sequence is a hallucination, or the story of Black Ops 3 is just as twistedas Treyarch claims.
What do you think of the Black Ops 3 launch trailer? Are you excited for the game, or are you suffering from Call of Duty fatigue?
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is releasing November 6th for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Keep in mind that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game lack the campaign mode, however.
