actor Leonard Nimoy passed away February 27, and a great outpouring of fan support has followed for Mr. Spock. A Live Long and Prosper hashtag trended on Twitter in recognition of Nimoy’s trademark phrase as Spock, and plenty of fans have taken to social media to share their favorite memories of the actor. Leonard Nimoy may have been best known for his work in science fiction, but it’s clear he had an impact on the entire world.

There have been tributes from the video game community as well. Cryptic Studiosrecently implemented an in-game memorialto Nimoy in its MMO Star Trek Online . But that was after a number of players had already started heading to Spock’s home planet of Vulcan to create their own memorials.

Now, Frontier Developmentshas revealed its own in-game memorial to Nimoy in Elite: Dangerous . Frontier released a few images on Imgurtoday, showing the tributes it came up with.

Elite: Dangerous now has a Vulcan planet, just like the one Spock hailed from, and players will also be able to visit a “Leonard Nimoy Station.”

Both new additions to the game fit in perfectly with Elite ‘s existing art direction, meaning it’s possible a player who isn’t familiar with Star Trek could fly right past the memorial without realizing the significance. Considering the Vulcan race was known for not showing any emotion, this feels like a perfect fit. Nimoy was said to sometimes be just as reserved as Spock, and he likely wouldn’t haven’t wanted anyone stopping to make a fuss about him.

It’s always nice to see the game community come together like this to support someone in the real world. Whether it’s Blizzard honoring the memory of Robin Williamsin World of Warcraft , or watching players in Final Fantasy 14 rally around a terminally ill friend, it just goes to show that despite all the negative vitriol that gets spewed online sometimes, the gaming community can be pretty awesome when it wants to be.

This isn’t the only Elite: Dangerous news to hit the press this month. Frontier announced last week that its space simulator will be coming to Xbox One. The release will also support Windows 10’s cross-buy feature. Anyone who buys the game on PC will have access on Xbox One and vice versa, for no additional charge.

Elite: Dangerous is out now on PC and will release on Xbox One later this year.
