It’s been quite a while since the last major update for Destiny, and players are already starting to get antsy.

and players are already starting to get antsy. Yes, there are some who are enjoying the previous DLC, The Dark Below, but many are eager to find out what’s next.

We’ve known for quite some time that Destiny ’s next big expansion (or DLC add-on) would be called House of Wolves, but outside of that Bungie had yet to say anything too official. Leaks from dataminers helped reveal new gear, story missions, raids, strikes, and even a release date, but once again Bungie kept quiet.

Today, however, Bungie has finally revealed more about House of Wolves, which is set to release on May 19th. It’s not much, but the above trailer gives players a sense of how this DLC expansion factors into the larger Destiny universe.

As expected, House of Wolves centers on the Awoken Queen, who most will know from Destiny ’s Queen’s Wrath event. The character has always had an air of mystery about her, and only barely featured into the main game, but very soon players will uncover some of her secrets. On top of that, the trailer reveals that Destiny players will have greater access to The Reef, an Awoken settlement that is rumored to serve as a new HUB worldin Destiny .

It’s hard to glean full details from the trailer but it sounds as if the Queen’s relationship with the Fallen has grown strained. In the main game, players saw the Queen flanked by Fallen guards, but it appears the Destiny alien race has betrayed the Awoken ruler. Now it is up to the player to seek out the Fallen betrayers and deliver the Queen’s revenge.

While there was plenty of rampant speculation leading up to this reveal, it appears that House of Wolvesfalls pretty much in line with expectations. That is to say the Destiny DLC expansion will feature the Fallen as a key enemy, the Awoken Queen will likely serve as a quest giver (a la Eris for The Dark Below), and The Reef will be a playable area.

All of that certainly sounds intriguing, but a prologue trailer is just the first piece of the puzzle. It sets the stage for what we hope will be exciting story-driven and cooperative play experiences, and whets the appetites of hungry Destiny players. More importantly, now that things have been made official, fans can look for more on House of Wolves in the near future.
