Fallout 4 Mod Stops Preston Garvey’s Annoying Settlement Requests

One Fallout 4 fan creates a mod for Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG that stops Preston Garvey’s requests for giving aid to settlements once and for all.

For those Fallout 4 PC players who absolutely can’t stomach one more of Preston Garvey‘s seemingly endless barrage of appeals to take part in a quest to defend yet another settlement, modder and YouTuber shad0wshayd3 has the solution. Calling it “Disable Minuteman Radiant Quests,” the in-game alteration basically does what the title describes.

Shad0wshayd3’s mod is definitely useful, but it’s worth noting that after its installation, it doesn’t stop the settlement quests altogether. The option to take them on is still available, and should Fallout 4 fans decide to pursue the Minutemen settlement quests, they will have to actually go to a settlement to accept the quest when reaching the site itself.

The difference in having “Disable Minuteman Radiant Quests” active is that Preston Garvey no longer automatically signs players up for a new settlement quest when they talk to him. After employing shad0wshayd3’s mod, Fallout 4 fans will only hear the potential companion’s dialogue, and that’s about it. Plus, depending on which settings folks have in place, the quests don’t pile up in the Quests tab. For those who wish to get a taste of what it would be like for the Commonwealth Minutemen member to just be content to relax from defending hapless Wastelanders if only for a minute, check out the video below.

As previously mentioned, shad0wshayd3’s mod is only available to PC players at the moment, but Fallout 4 ‘s console fans should be able to take part in the fun soon enough. Bethesda has promised that the official Creation Kit mod toolsshould be available for all platforms sometime early this year, but an exact release date has yet to be confirmed.

Prior to the action-RPG’s launch back in November, Bethesda’s Vice President of Marketing and PR, Pete Hines, said that when the game is finished, mod tools get a release. Bearing that in mind, he’s probably referring to the materials found beyond the title’s base model as well. Of course, the studio has yet to put the finishing touches on Fallout 4 ‘s forthcoming Season Pass and DLC, so it’s anyone’s guess as to when it’ll all go live.

In the meantime, though, no matter what platform gamers are experiencing Fallout 4 on, there’s likely still plenty of enjoyable activities to keep them interested, even if Preston Garvey’s getting on their last nerve. And should players have already exhausted practically every ounce of action the game has to offer, there’s always the option to try and beat the game without killing anyone or anything.

Fallout 4 is out now and is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
