Xbox ‘Minecraft’ Adds ‘Star Wars Rebels’ Skins to the Shop

One of the great things about the PC version of Minecraft (and the PC versions of most games) is how easily fans can create mods, skins, and other game alterations to share with the community.

to share with the community. The creative world of Minecraft has always been a great landscape for adding a little extra flare and the creators have attempted to bring that characteristic to the console ports with slightly less free DLC packs.

It may feel a little silly to pay for a cosmetic change that would likely be free on PC, but most of the skin packs for the Xbox and PlayStation ports have been so cheap that it’s hard to complain. When the extra content allows you to bring your favorite characters from other games, comics, and movies into the game for less than the price of a gallon of gas, it’s hard to say no.

Last year, Microsoft and Minecraft boarded the Star Wars hype train and released a Classic Star Wars packfull of characters from the original trilogy. This time around, Microsoft is bringing a handful of new characters into the mix with the Star Wars Rebels skin pack. For three dollars, shoppers will unlock 20 new characters. The new crew will feature some of the cast of characters who have debuted in the first season of Star Wars Rebels.

If you’re a fan of Rebels , you’re likely happy to see that almost the entire cast made the cut. If you happen to be a Star Wars fan, but Rebels isn’t your cup of tea, not to worry. The team at Xbox suggested that this wasn’t the only Star Wars DLC pack in the works…

“… Stay tuned for more Star Wars Minecraft news soon.”

As you might expect, the DLC pack doesn’t bring any changes to the gameplay of the open-world construction game. The skins are purely aesthetic, but do offer players some great motivation to start recreating iconic Star Wars vehicles and locations to make these new characters look more at home. While you’re at it, you may want to start recreating the Simpson’s living room or Springfield Elementary, since that skin packshould hit the Microsoftstore later this month.

Will you be picking up the Star Wars Rebels skin pack or do you feel like paying for aesthetic changes to a game is a waste of money? Let us know in the comments.

The Minecraft Star Wars Rebels skin pack is currently available on Xbox consoles.
