Eidos Montreal announces a major delay to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in order to provide more time for refinement and to not compromise on quality.
The highly anticipated stealth action game, has been hit with a major delay, moving from its original February 23, 2016 release dateto six months later on August 23, 2016. According to Eidos, the team has ambitious goals for Adam Jensen’s second outing and wants to ensure not only that Mankind Divided is a worthy successor to the previous Deus Ex title, but that it also improves upon the experience in every way possible.
“We’re confident and proud of the game so far. However, as we are now playing through the game in full we can see that it will require more time in post-production for tuning, iterations and refinement to meet our high standards. In order to achieve this, we need to move the release of the game to 23 August 2016.”
The news comes from Eidos-Montreal studio head, David Anfossi, who posted a short statement explaining the delay to fans. While Anfossi does reveal that the development team is confident and proud of the game they’re making, concerns started to appear after playing through the title. While specific details were not given, Anfossi reveals that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will benefit from more time in post-production for tuning, refinements, and iterations in order to meet the team’s high standards.
After cancelling a pre-order programthat wasn’t well received by gamers, this is the first bit of bad news that has come out around Deus Ex: Mankind Divided . The additional six months of development time does seem to reveal that something wasn’t progressing as well as the team was hoping. Considering the amount of negative feedback the boss battles receivedfrom Deus Ex: Human Revolution , making sure this game hits all the high notes and doesn’t repeat past mistakes is certainly understandable.
While gamers continue to enjoy the high profile releases of October and November, the months of February and March have become popular release windows as well. Early 2016 already has a number of high profile releaseswith Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End , Tom Clancy’s The Division , and Far Cry Primal to name a few. So, with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided now getting pushed into August, there’s one less choice consumers need to make.
