We live in interesting times of gaming where a lot of people blame the rise of smart phones and mini games as the reason so many people are willing to pay to play a game that has freemium features. Freemium games either give you very limited gaming features or just lack any ability to play the game in any real way without spending far more than you would on the game if they charged you $5 dollars or even $50 for some games.
This is especially true with games where you have ‘heroes’ or individual characters that game makers strive to make in a way that makes you feel like you have a bond with them. MOBAS are the biggest offender of this which is why it is so exciting to learn that Blizzard will not be doing this kind of feature in the coming Overwatch team based shooter.
Blizzard has confirmed that all the Overwatch maps and the characters that you can play in game during beta will all be usable for everyone forever that it says Gamespot. This means that you can play and try all kinds of diverse characters and play styles without the need to purchase any additional content other than your box or digital copy of the game.
Their are currently twenty-one characters so that is a lot to chose from giving you a good feel for which one is your soul mate and virtual representation of you. However it is expected that more characters and maps will be able to be bought at a later time possibly as a DLC package or with virtual currency of some sort. The game will be priced at $60 at release on Playstation 4 and Xbox One and 40 for PC.
