According to NetherRealm Studios’ Creative Director, an official trailer for Mortal Kombat X ‘s second DLC pack drops next week to show off brand new gameplay.
Ed Boon, the co-creator of the brutal fighting game franchise known the world over as Mortal Kombat recently took to his Twitter account to divulge the reveal of an official, never-before-seen gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat X ‘s Kombat Pack 2sometime next week. Unfortunately, though, the tweet in question offers neither a specific date for its showing, nor does it disclose exactly what kind of content will be seen in the video.
It’s been about a month since Mortal Kombat X fans have been treated to news about the game, so Boon’s tease is sure to have would-be Kombatants excited. After all, the announcement seen below has more than 1,000 retweets, and nearly 2,000 likes, so it’s obvious that regular MKX players are looking forward to what Kombat Pack 2 has in store for them.

For those unaware, Mortal Kombat X ‘s second round of DLC is set to continue the tradition of previous add-ons by including familiar faces from the series’ past, as well as characters taken from horror movie franchises such as Alien ‘s Xenomorph and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ‘s Leatherface. As far as the possibility of new costumes and additional ancillary content for the game goes, though, such inclusions are still up in the air. However, considering the near-constant updates that MKX received last year, such as supplements like Klassic Skinsfor the title’s fighting roster, there ought to be more than just new characters in the pipeline.
With sales for Mortal Kombat X having drooped in the past few months — to be fair, the brawler has been out since April of last year, so it’s to be expected — the fresh DLC should garner more attention for the title. If anything, NetherRealm Studios has assembled a veritable dream team of characters from the series’ history and with its growing stable of horror icons. In truth, it’s hard to imagine film junkies not being excited at the prospect of pitting Jason Voorheesagainst Leatherface, so the developers’ decision to continue melding silver-screen fiends with old-school favorites is definitely a winning combination.
With Mortal Kombat X already having a stacked set of playable characters, the forthcoming DLC will bring the count up to a staggering collection of 33 available Kombatants, which is great for giving the game added replay value. And while there’s no telling whether or not NetherRealm Studios will continue releasing extra content for the title beyond Kombat Pack 2 – if developers decide to do so – MKX could potentially become the most successful entry in the franchise to date.
