Last week, Blizzard announced that they are taking signups for the closed beta of their new team based first-person shooter IP, Overwatch .
. The Overwatch update train doesn’t seem to be slowing down this week, either, as Blizzard announced today that they will be integrating voice chat into their Battle.net client, with Overwatch as the app’s testing grounds.
This is not the Blizzard’s first experience with in-game voice chats. W orld of Warcraft and StarCraft II both feature voice chat services, but their quality is notoriously inconsistent. Players often opt to use external voice chat programs as a result. With their recent foray into the MOBA genre with Heroes of the Storm , perhaps Blizzard has realized the importance of having a strong voice chat system in games that require heavy coordination like HotS and Overwatch and is taking extra strides to give players the best communication systems that they can provide.
Overwatch is set to release in early 2016. If you have an existing Battle.net account, you can sign up for the closed beta here. The beta is slated to begin on October 27 for both the North American and European regions, with a possibility that it will be open to anyone on the weekends.
