When most companies promote their game, they usually send some kind of cardboard display to set up for the passing public in hopes they will walk in, remember that game is coming out, and pre-order/buy it.

When most companies promote their game, they usually send some kind of cardboard display to set up for the passing public in hopes they will walk in, remember that game is coming out, and pre-order/buy it. With The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , the developers are going in a different direction. Bethesda’s going to be sending out huge bronzed statues of Skyrim ‘s ‘Dragonborn’ warrior to lure customers in with the promises of dragon slaying on an unrivaled scale.

is a substantial game all by itself, sure to be filled with hours upon hours upon hours of content. We already have some idea of what players can do, from forming inter-species marriages, fighting dragonsthat randomly populate the game world, or just wander around aimlessly in the wilderness.

With a game this big, it makes sense that Bethesda would want to make it clear to everyone just how much of a blockbuster they think Skyrim will be. The solution? Commission hundreds of Nord statues to be delivered to retailers and grab the attention of prospective gamers.

Obviously, there are going to be a lot of people ready to spend their life savings on one of the statues. Unfortunately, Bethesda hasn’t said whether or not they will be available for sale. Perhaps one day for the Child’s Play charity? Who knows. But do check out the gallery below and behold the wonders of what an army of dragon-slaying Nords looks like:

Definitely a sight to behold. No word yet on when you can expect to see these things inhabiting your local game retailer, but it will most likely be within the next few weeks, if not sooner. There will no doubt be tons of casual observers wondering exactly what type of game could warrant such a spectacle, even if the large Skyrim sign below doesn’t give it away.

While waiting for your own chance to glimpse the statuesque Nord, check out the E3 2011 gameplay trailerof Skyrim and dream of just how sweet it would be to work in Bethesda’s Dovahkin-filled offices.

Skyrim releases November 11, 2011 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
