to consoles, has been tirelessly working on updating the Xbox 360 version of the game as of late. With plenty of additional updates still planned for the ridiculously successful (and blocky) survival game, not to mention recently releasing the title on PlayStation 3, there’s still much work to be done. That said, there hasn’t been any shortage of downloadable content in the form of skins or entire texture packs pertaining to blockbuster properties, and now Marvel’s Avengers will be getting in on the cube-based fun.

The new pack will include an impressive 35 skins based on iconic superheroes and villains that have been associated with Marvel’s favorite team, with a majority being based on the characters that appeared in the latest Avengers motion picture — as well as a few familiar faces from the comic books. With that in mind, this isn’t a texture pack like the previously announced Skyrim add-onor Mass Effect mash-up, so players will have to build their own S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier to hangout on.

The official press release confirmed that Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Loki, Wasp, Falcon, Vision, Maria Hill, and Agent Coulson will all be part of the add-on, while screenshots confirm several other characters (such as Taskmaster, Spider-Woman, Iron Patriot, etc.) will also be included. Oddly enough, there’s no sign of other popular characters like Spider-Man, Wolverine, or Deadpool, which should be taken as a sign that there is still plenty of additional Marvel content to come.

As for a release date, Microsoft and Mojang have yet to confirm anything more than a generic “coming soon” window for this DLC, but our guess is that it will be arriving any day now. As for a price, it’s not ridiculous to suggest that it will fall in line with past skin packs, so fans shouldn’t have to pay too much to deck out their avatar in Iron Man swag. PS3 owners, on the other hand, may be left waiting a little bit longer for the skins, as they have yet to be announced for Sony’s platform.
