It’s no secret that dinosaurs have begun to make a comeback in the wake of such successes as Jurassic World and ARK: Survival Evolved .
. Yes, the extinct beasts have certainly pushed themselves into the public’s eye once more, so it seemed inevitable that more media related to the creatures would start to rear its head. That’s why it’s all too appropriate to see that the original Turok: Dinosaur Hunter game, and its sequel Turok 2: Seeds of Evil , will be seeing a remastered release on PC.
The studio responsible for this remastering is Night Dive Studios, and the developer revealed this information through gaming news site Gamespot earlier today. Allegedly, and appropriately given the fact that it is a remastering, the revampedtitles will provide fans with enhanced graphics, which many longtime followers of the franchise are sure to appreciate.
The CEO and founder of Night Dive Studios, Stephen Kick, expressed his excitement over the forthcoming projects. Referencing the importance of the original game, Kick went on to stress just how important it is to keep these franchises relevant and in the hearts of gamers. Even better, it could possibly introduce new players to the once revolutionary shooting games.
“When Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was first released it was nothing short of revolutionary. To that point, no game had ever offered the combination of graphics and an open world environment that Turok featured. We are very excited to have the opportunity to bring this great franchise back to life and to be able to share these great titles with today’s gaming audience.”
Many gamers will recall that rumors about the remastering of the original Turok started popping up several months ago. Now it seems that those reports were indeed true – although they failed to mention anything about Seeds of Evil also receiving a remaster. Still, these are games that many fans reflect on positively, and it’ll be interesting to see what Night Dive Studios implements into the titles to make them feel a little more modern in an industry that has changed substantially since their initial debut in the late nineties.
There’s currently no release date or price point set for the games, but it’s been confirmed that they will both be made available through Steam, the Humble Bundle store, GOG, GamersGate, Green Man Gaming, and, of course, the official Night Dive Studios website. It’s also not known if they’ll be made available for purchase separately or together, but more news on that should be popping up as the games near their inevitable release.
