biggest money maker, and a series that the developer/publisher could keep releasing for years to come – kinda like now. The series has had its ups and definite downs, but despite it all, the convoluted war between the Assassins and Templars continues uninterrupted. Things have even gotten to the point where multiple Assassin’s Creed titles are coming out within the same year, mere months apart – just look at Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed Rogue .

Many fans and critics of the series have expressed a desire to see it take a break and skip a year or two, but 2015 won’t be that year, thanks to the revealed-too-soon Assassin’s Creed Victory and the relatively smaller entry,.

Now, the argument could be made that this year would be different than the others, since AC Chronicles has a visual style to call its own and utilizes a 2.5D perspective. But Ubisoft’s announcement today of two additional “chronicles,” presumably due out this year as well, more or less negates that. The China arc won’t even be the most unique AC game released this year.

The two new arcs – India and Russia – were hinted at last year, but have only just been detailed further, alongside a new trailer. Accompanying Shao Jun (first seen in the animated feature Assassin’s Creed Embers ) in the trilogy of games are Arbaaz Mir (India) and Nikolai Orelov (Russia), who hardcore fans may recognize from the Assassin’s Creed comics.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China , India , and Russia will all have a 2.5D perspective, but they’ll each sport their own art style, which has been described as being “illustrative” but something that “brings them together.” Additionally, according to Xavier Penin, Lead Game Designer at Ubisoft Partners, the stories of all three game connect to one another, and players will see something special should they play all three.

“There is a narrative link. As [the games] have to be independent, it’s not huge. It’s not central, but it’s there, especially for the fans. And if you finish Russia, and you’ve played the other two, there’s a special ending that’s really interesting for the fans and ties the Chronicles together.”

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China launches on April 21, 2015 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One for $10; free for AC Unity Season Pass owners. AC Chronicles India and Russia have yet to get release dates, but Ubisoft has stated the trilogy is expected to be completed by the Fall. Perhaps after that, the series will finally head to Japan.
