GR Pick: Smash Dad Does Every Taunt In ‘Super Smash Bros.’ for Wii U

Dads are wily and often confusing creatures.

Dads are wily and often confusing creatures. Whether they’re grilling meat while wearing socks with sandals or answering cries of hunger with “Hi, hungry! I’m Dad!”, they can often be embarrassing or downright frustrating. But in the end, Dads will always step up to the plate when needed.

Case in point: Youtuber Nick Luciano’s Dad agreed to reenact every taunt from Super Smash Bros. Wii U just because his son asked. Luciano’s Dad isn’t a gamer by any means, nor does he seemingly possess the hand-eye coordination to accurately reenact most of the taunts, but that didn’t stop him.

The video, uploaded April 29th, has already wracked up a whopping 300,000 views, and it’s easy to see why. Be it the stretches of the Wii Fit Trainer(during which he almost pulls a muscle) or the theatrical pronouncements of Robin (he even uses a book as a prop! Talk about commitment.), Luciano’s Dad commits himself fully to the task.

Copying all these taunts is no easy job. With 51 character featuring 3 separate taunts, Luciano’s Dad works tirelessly to do them all justice. While not every character is well suited to Luciano’s Dad’s, er, talents, he puts his all into performing every taunt to the best of his abilities. While some taunts fare better than others (seriously, his Wario is spot on), Luciano’s Dad still gives it his all no matter who he’s flopping around and pretending to be.

Luciano’s Dad’s talents (or lack thereof) has struck a chord with fans, with many clamoring for Smash Dad’s (as he’s come to be known) inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Wii U as a DLC character, with some even taking to the official Super Smash Fighters Ballotto request Smash Dad. While the chances of this are slim to none, Luciano has promised that Smash Dad will return in a follow-up video for the recently released Mewtwo’s taunts.

Some Dad’s will suffer through awful music for their children, while others will let their kid’s dress as stupid as they want, but Smash Dad is definitely contended for Dad of the Year.

With over 51 characters to pick from, which Super Smash Bros. Dad taunt was your favorite? Tell us in the comments!
