‘Street Fighter 5’ Won’t Take Ten Years To Arrive

Everyone’s familiar with the ridiculous number of altered versions of Street Fighter II and Street Fighter III got its fair share of rehashes as well. Not evenwas safe from being bumped up to an Arcade Edition . So it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to assume that the next game in the series, Street Fighter V , game would take quite a while for release, but Capcomsays otherwise.
It took approximately ten years after Street Fighter III for Street Fighter IV to be released, but Capcom community manager Seth Killian promises that it won’t be as long for a wait for Street Fighter 5 to come out. He said that we could expect one before 2019, but didn’t give any other specifics beyond that. Cheeky.
“It will be before 2019. Now I’m going to be fired for promising Street Fighter 5 before 2019. I think I should be OK. We’ll see. They’ll do 2020 just to screw me and make me look like an ass.”
Killian was actually very tight-lipped in regards to even the slightest hint of a plan for a fifth Street Fighter . He explained that he wants to remain guarded in case another fighting series comes up with an idea similar or identical to one he’s come up with. This possibility is much greater now that the fighting game genre is going through something of a rebirth, and he wants to keep his cards close to his chest in order to keep up.
While it may seem a bit odd to bring up a new title and give absolutely nothing about it, Killian’s strategy does make sense. The fighting game genre has started to make a comeback in a big way.became one of the biggest titles of the summer this year (and the best-selling it its long franchise);is on its way in a couple of weeks; and we’ll havecoming next year. Not only that, but both Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur V appear to be incorporating aspects from the Street Fighter series, such as energy bars and super moves, so his concerns of a lengthy development time aren’t completely unfounded.
