At EVO 2013 — the world’s biggest fighting game tournament — Capcom announced a new Street Fighter is on the way.
is on the way. Not a new numbered Street Fighter , mind you, but yet another iteration of Street Fighter 4 .
Capcom plans to reveal this next version of Street Fighter 4 during EVO’s Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition finals. There they will presumably reveal a trailer, further explain the title, and announce a name.
While details are fairly slim regarding this next Street Fighter 4 version we do know that it will be available for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 and will include all the previously released costume packs. Pricing is a little weird for the title, as it depends on whether or not you already own a version of Street Fighter 4 . If you do, then the upgrade will only cost $14.99, but if you do not then you will have to pay $39.99 for the retail or digital version.
The title will also include five new characters, six new stages, and a slew of balance changes to help keep things feeling fresh. We know that four of the five new characters are Rolento, Elena, Hugo, and Poison, but Capcom is keeping mum on the fifth. That’s likely because, as they have already revealed, this unannounced fighter has never been seen in a Street Fighter title before.
Even though they didn’t make the cut on previously release Street Fighter 4 version, the four fan-favorite characters were part of the Street Fighter X Tekken roster. In other words, don’t be surprised if these “new” fighters feel like nothing more than ports.
As far as the new fighter is concerned it’s hard to predict considering Capcom says he or she (or it) is a newcomer to the Street Fighter franchise. Asura from Asura’s Wrath might be an interesting addition, but that’s just a wild guess.
[UPDATE: Capcom revealed the title will be called Ultra Street Fighter 4 , but they did not announce who the fifth character will be]
Will you be picking up this third version of Street Fighter 4 ? Who do you think the fifth fighter will be?
