NetherRealm Studios reveals that Mortal Kombat X’s new DLC characters will be available to play for free trial over the next few days, after opening a new Premier Tower.
The next set of DLC characters for Mortal Kombat X certainly bring an even greater level of brutality to the proceedings. The recently-released Kombat Pack 2allows players to fight as the Xenomorph from Alien , Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface, cyborg ninja Triborg, and Bo’ Rai Cho. Now, NetherRealm Studios has given Mortal Kombat fans the chance to try out these characters before purchasing the pack.
Thedeveloper has opened up a new Premier Tower which allows console users to give the likes of the Xenomorph and Leatherface a quick trial. This try-before-you-buy technique is perfect for those who want to see if the new characters are worth NetherRealm Studios’ asking price. Players will have to be quick, though, as this free trial is only going to be around for a few days.
This isn’t the only time that NetherRealm Studios has given fans of the franchise a chance to check out new content without needing to make a purchase. The first Mortal Kombat X DLC pack gave players Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees as a playable character. However, for those who were unsure if the pack was worth the $7.99 cost, the developer gave users a free weekend trialof the character.
The most recent Kombat Pack saw release last week, and brought with it two more of the most iconic villains from the world of horror movies. Both Leatherface and the Xenomorph have their own brutal Fatalities, with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s killer using his trademark chainsawto take down opponents in a horrifying fashion. Meanwhile, the Xenomorph also has a wide range of finishers, including a unique Brutality with Jason Voorhees.
Unfortunately, this trial is not going to be applicable for PC players. NetherRealm Studios community specialist Tyler Lansdown announced that the PC version of Mortal Kombat X wouldn’t be receiving the latest set of DLC charactersearlier in the year. It was yet another kick in the teeth for Mortal Kombat fans, and once again tarnished the reputation of publisher Warner Bros. Interactive with PC users after a number of problems with releases over recent years.
For console players, however, this trial may prove incredibly useful, and NetherRealm Studios is bound to get something out of it as well. The release of this Kombat Pack may have been overshadowed by the recent release of, so giving fans the chance to try out these new characters could help bring Mortal Kombat X back into the public eye. Hopefully, the game’s users will find something that they like with these new additions to the fighter roster.
