‘Hearthstone’ Reaches 30 Million Players
While Blizzard’s flagship game, World of Warcraft , may be losing subscribers at a rapid rate, the developer’s online card game,, continues to find success among gamers. The collectible card game recently reached a new milestone with 30 million active players.
We’ll note that these players are spread across all platforms, including Android and iOS devices. However, unlike World of Warcraft , more Hearthstone players doesn’t necessarily mean more revenue, though we doubt the game is struggling.
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is available on PC, Android, and iOS.
Electronic Arts Revenue Hits $4.3 Billion
Video game developer and publisher Electronic Arts announced this week that they achieved $4.3 billion in revenue for the most recent fiscal year, which is higher than the previous year’s $4 billion. During an earnings report, EA shared that the increase in revenue is due in large part to the increase in digital video game sales happening in the industry.
With multiple big-ticket games planned for this next fiscal year, includingand Mirror’s Edge 2 , it’s possible EA will beat this year’s numbers in the coming year.
Player Controls ‘GTA 5’ Phone with Real-Life Smartphone
Within just a few days of the Grand Theft Auto 5 PC launch, gamers started releasing modsfor the game. One of these mods allows players to sync their real-life smartphone with the in-game cell phone.
We’ll point out that this isn’t a simple download-and-run mod. Instead, it utilizes a special webserver that allows the user to sync their real-life device with the in-game phone. But while the process may be a little involved, it’s a pretty interesting concept that will hopefully be implemented by developers in future games.

‘Castlevania’ Creator Teasing Spiritual Successor?
Koji “Iga” Igarashi, who worked on theseries, has started his own game development company and is looking for some feedback from fans for a potential game. The feedback comes by way of a simple website that asks visitors if they prefer a sword or whip.
Gamers can vote by visiting swordorwhip.comand making their selection. Once they do so, they’re told to return later, likely to see which of the two wins. Based on Iga’s history and the site’s relation to classic Castlevania , we have a strong feeling the developer is working on a new game that will feel and play a lot like Castlevania . We’ll be interested to see what information Iga releases after gamers have made their vote.

New ‘Persona 5’ Screenshots Mix the Mundane with the Fantastic
In anticipation for the upcoming role-playing game, Persona 5, developer Altushas released a handful of screenshots that show off the game’s unique blend of the mundane and fantastic. The game follows a high school student who lives the normal teenage life by day, but moonlights as a cat burglar with his friends at night.
The below screenshots should be enough to get any Persona fan excited for the upcoming sequel.
Persona 5 is set to release in Japan and North America in 2015 for PS3 and PS4.
‘Attack on Titan’ Game Coming to 3DS This Week
Altus’ Attack on Titan is finally coming to Nintendo 3DSin North America on May 12th. In preparation for the game’s launch, the developer released the above trailer that shows off some exciting gameplay and spotlights the game’s main characters.
In the role-playing game, players will take on massive Titans with their team of hunters. As the trailer shows, the game will be fast-paced and include plenty of fighting.
Attack on Titan is set to release on May 12, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.
